Prescription: God is in Control☝🏽
Dosage: Readers are required to submit their life to God 🙌🏽
Are you used to being in control? Well, I am…
When I first started college, I had no clue what I wanted to do. I knew what I liked doing, but what I liked doing did not seem profitable. At least that’s what I was told…but once I figured out what I liked doing was my passion, I didn’t care if it was profitable or not, I was going to make my dream my reality.
But…what happens when you know what you want to do, but you’re not sure how to get there. Or what if your vision doesn’t match your finances. Or where you’re trying to go doesn’t make sense with where you are right now?
Looking back, I’ve worked with some amazing people,
- I interned with a State Representative, who was counted as the 5th youngest to ever be elected.
- I interned with a HBCU campus media site, who is run by two successful black women.
- Lastly, I am interning with an image consultant, who has her own magazine and online boutique, all while working a 9 to 5.
I’ve had the pleasure of not just working for women, but successful BLACK women, who made their own lane.👏🏽 They all work in different industries, but what amazes me is how they set the standard to reach their dreams. I’m so grateful for the many seeds that they planted in me. And I know now, that it was not by coincidence that I met them.
But, here I am a young woman who has a dream that is beyond what my eyes see…hold on ☝🏽wait a minute, I serve a God of the impossible! Why am I worried? God has it all under control, all I need to do is submit to HIM and trust the process. My pastor used to say, “It’s not what it looks like, but it’s how you see it.” How do YOU see yourself? I see myself successful, and I know I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to work for successful black women if I wasn’t going to be one as well.
Life can cause you to get off focus, and you begin to forget who’s in control. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in ‘life’ stuff, but in those moments, that’s when God is trying to get your attention. Submit to Him and LOSE CONTROL. Remember Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Your dream may seem impossible to you, but not to GOD.
